Ground preparation

Ground preparation is undertaken to encourage new tree growth and increase the success of freshly planted saplings in new planting and restocking sites. After an area has had mature trees harvested there can be debris, weed growth and compaction of the soil which can have an impact on the next stage of the crop.

We can cultivate the area by any of the following methods:

  • Mounding with an excavator
  • Raking and burning any significant mounds of debris
  • Mulching debris
  • Mowing any weeds or grass
  • Clearing ditches and re-establishing drainage systems
